To fulfill the precise execution of the task assigned by the organizer of this year's Interphoto, it is necessary to delve into the interpretation of the theme "Collecting Worlds" so that the relationship between authors and recipients can fully meet the expectations of all people involved in this endeavor. At the beginning of any considerations, it is advisable to establish a common understanding of the terms from the rich resources of the Polish language, which provides infinite possibilities for interpretation. It seems that of the two words comprising the main theme of Interphoto 2024, "collecting" should not pose too many difficulties in understanding its meaning. According to the "Small Dictionary of the Polish Language" edited by Stanisław Skorupka, the above word means gathering, accumulating, and organizing. But after all, we can gather, collect, and organize almost everything we encounter. And that is just the beginning of the problem. When we turn to the second part of the festival's theme, a vast, almost ungraspable space opens before us. The word "world" has so many meanings that establishing a uniform understanding of this term and finding a clear referent hidden under it may prove impossible to achieve. The aforementioned "Dictionary" lists at least ten meanings of the word "world." From the earth globe, through the closest space visible to the eye, to any abundance of anything. How can a photographer, who has only the tool of a camera at their disposal, find themselves in all this? Both professional creators in the field of visual arts and amateur photography enthusiasts are given the opportunity this year to fully utilize their imagination and skills in handling photographic equipment and knowledge in post-production. For the members of the Białystok Photographic Society, celebrating its 70th anniversary, this is an opportunity to showcase the comprehensive achievements of the association, which has made its mark not only in the history of the region but also of the entire world. Although the photographic resources of BTF are dominated by the world of nature, participants in our association's meetings have often revealed that other worlds are not unfamiliar to them, which they eagerly collect.
